The University of Nebraska at Kearney's Kinesiology and Sport Sciences Department offers some of the most popular and dynamic programs in the region. The department's focus is on preparing students for a variety of fields that involve pedagogy in health and exercise, recreation, and sport sciences—with graduate opportunities in the health and medical professions. Because of the close partnerships with surrounding school districts, University of Nebraska at Kearney students have the opportunity to complete interactive experiences to practice teaching in a variety of health education settings beginning their freshman year. UNK believes in the value of hands-on learning and helps to guide students in these field experiences throughout their collegiate career to develop quality educators who make a difference in the lives of students.

“I have had the opportunity to make so many connections through my Physical Education Comp Major at UNK. My professors worked hard to maximize learning for each student. I felt like I mattered. I was able to make lifelong friends and also be a part of hands-on learning. I was able to see what teaching others was like. I never wanted to go out of my comfort zone, but I am so happy that I came to UNK and did. I feel confident about my future because of the education I received.”
