New Cyber Security Operations (CSO) program

UNK CSIT is excited to announce a new Cyber Security Operations (CSO) program. This program is based on the current CS, IT, and INT programs. It primarily will focus on technologies and techniques related to specialized cyber operations (e.g., collection, exploitation, and response) to defend the infrastructure of information systems - computers, networks, and communications.

There are currently 209,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs, a number that is expected to grow to 1.5 million by 2019. Nebraska Department of Labor projecting jobs for information security analysts to increase by 28.36% from 2014 to 2024.

100% Job & Internship Placement - wow!

UNK CSIT students are heavily recruited by businesses from all over, with average starting salaries in the $50-65K range in Nebraska.

Also, 100% of the dedicated sophomore-level or above CSIT students (who were U.S. citizens) that sought an internship have been successful. This includes full-time summer internships in many locations, or part-time internships/IT-related employment in the Kearney-area throughout the academic year. This allows CSIT students to gain on-the-job experience as they earn their degree.

New facilities - opening Fall 2019!

As we move to a new building, the CSIT Department is merging with the INT & MIS programs in a new Cyber Systems department. This will allow us to provide a one-stop department for all cyber-related programs. We will continue to offer the same strong CS, IT, and Cyber Security Operations programs.  We are also hiring a new Chair for the new Cyber Systems Department.
